Honorary Consulate in NC Updates: Passport, Procura, and Authentication Appointments

Feb 07, 2021 1074

The Honorary Consulate has resumed limited services. We have added a number of passport appointment slots for March through July. Please note that these slots are strictly for Italian citizens living in North Carolina who have an expired passport, or whose passport will expire within 60 days of the appointment date.

Strict COVID-19 guidelines are in place and those not following them will be turned away from their appointments. There are new procedures to follow for obtaining information and scheduling appointments for procure and passports.

For procure, email [email protected]. You will receive an automated answer with a link to download the current procedural document, templates, and examples to follow for completing each procura, as well as instructions for scheduling your appointment. If you already have an appointment scheduled, there is no new action you need to take. Continue to follow what has already been supplied to you.

For passports that are expired or will expire in the next 60 days, email [email protected]. You will receive an automated answer with a link to download the current procedural document and instructions for setting your appointment. Only one person per appointment slot, even if within the same family. If you already have an appointment scheduled, there is no new action you need to take. Continue to follow what has already been supplied to you.

If you are an Italian citizen residing in NC, and you have an emergency, please email charlotte.onorario@esteri.it and provide a cell phone number where you can be reached. You will be called back within 24 hours.

The Consulate is not processing passports for new citizens or any visas at this time. Please direct these inquiries to the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia or the Consulate that has jurisdiction over your state of residency if you are not residing within North Carolina.

While the office will update the community via Facebook and the CCI-NC webpage (where appropriate), please note that messages through Facebook messenger or those sent to CCI-NC regarding the Honorary Consulate will not be answered. You must follow the guidelines above and email the correct address to receive a response.

The Consulate thanks you for your patience and understanding during these trying times. Please help the staff by following directions and reading all materials before contacting them further. And please, stay safe!
