Firriato’s Nero D’Avola Chiaramonte is a big, powerful wine with lots of rich layers. It’s made from the Nero D’Avola grape, which is grown primarily in Sicily. You’ll want to give it time in the glass. I had this beauty with grilled yellow peppers, zucchini and Sicilian sausage from DeVitis Italian Market. It was the perfect match as the grilled meat accentuated hints of dried plumb and raisin, with a touch of dryness on the finish. Complimenti, as they say on the boot! At $17.99, it’s a bottle you can’t refuse.
