For more than 90-years, this restaurant has drawn people across the region looking for good Italian food and an old school family atmosphere. Local standup comedian Edgar Sandoval and photojournalist Andrew Best take us this week to Mona’s in Toluca, considered one of America’s best restaurants.
It’s a throwback to a simpler time. Located 45 minutes from Peoria and Bloomington, and with a population of about 1300, it’s surprising to find a restaurant as good or as large as Mona’s in a place the size of Toluca, which is in Marshall County. Many folks in Central Illinois know it’s absolutely worth the drive.
