After years of club domination from Spain and England, the European Cup this season has a distinctly Italian flavor. Five teams from Italy have qualified for the semi-finals of all three UEFA competitions for the first time – doubling the combined representation of England and Spain, with two in each race.
And an Italian will certainly go to the final of the Champions League – the continent’s grand event – for the first time in six years, as AC Milan and Inter will play in the semi-finals in the Clasico della Madonnina. Juventus and Roma can meet in the final of the Europa League if they beat Sevilla of Spain and Bayer Leverkusen of Germany respectively in the semi-finals. And Fiorentina will face Swiss Basel in the semi-finals of the Conference League.
