Campania is the best eating region in the world: 7 Italians in the top 10, the ranking

If Italian cuisine is the most appreciated by gourmets around the world, according to the portal TasteAtlas, it is mainly due to the richness of the gastronomic traditions and culture present in every territory of our peninsula. This is the complete 2023 TasteAtlas ranking of the world's best ten eating regions: 1) Campania; 2) Emilia-Romagna; 3) Java; 4) Crete; 5) Sicily; 6) Guangdong; 7) Lazio; 8) Tuscany; 9) Lombardy; 10) Liguria.

According to the site that collects and analyzes hundreds of thousands of restaurant reviews, in the ranking of the 100 regions where the best food is eaten around the planet 17 are Italian, 7 of which are in the top 10, two in the top two places.

In fact, at the top of the 2023 ranking of the best local cuisines according to the ratings of tourists from around the globe is Campania, followed by Emilia Romagna.Like every year, for 2023 TasteAtlas collected and analyzed hundreds of thousands of restaurant ratings, awarding prizes for the world's best cuisines, dishes, food cities, food products and ingredients.

Once again this year, Italy topped the list as the world's top-rated food culture, ahead of Japan and Greece, based on the average ratings of each country's 50 representative specialties.

To compile the ranking of the 100 regions with the best culinary traditions in the world, the portal looked at 395,205 reviews on the typical dishes of and 115,660 ratings of gastronomic products from regions and territorial entities around the world.

According to the TasteAtlas survey for 2023, Campania is crowned as the region with the world's most highly rated cuisine thanks to historic dishes such as pizza, linguine allo scoglio, Neapolitan-style parmigiana, sugo alla Genovese, and mozzarella in carrozza. Among the region's excellences, the region stands out for mozzarella di Bufala campana, bocconcini, Sorrento lemon, and provolone del Monaco, as well as limoncello and Fiano wine.

Emilia-Romagna ranks as second thanks to world-recognizable dishes such as tagliatelle al ragù and lasagna alla Bolognese, piadina Romagnola, and borlengo, as well as other typical products such as Parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto di Parma, balsamic vinegar of Modena, Nocino, Lambrusco di Sorbara, and Amaro Montenegro.
