There is also Italy in the Independent Spirit Awards 2022 nominations, revealed 24 hours after the Golden Globes nominations. In the nominations of the 37th edition of the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Jonas Carpignano's A Chiara is the title in the race with three nominations in the categories Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing. 

Presented as a world premiere in the Directors' Fortnight section at the Cannes Film Festival 2021, where it was acclaimed by international critics and won the Europa Cinemas Label award, Jonas Carpignano's film A Chiara closes the trilogy of Gioia Tauro in Calabria that began with Mediterranea (2015) and continued with A Ciambra (2017). The Independent Spirit Awards 2022 will be held on March 6, 2022, therefore just before the opening of final voting for the Oscars, which will be on March 17.
