Our local law enforcement officials were honored this evening with special medals symbolizing one archangel, St. Michael. To Catholics, the archangel St. Michael means security, protection, safety, and peace. This angel is considered the patron saint of law enforcement, which is why the St. Michael medal was chosen to be given to our officers.

The Sons of Italy Heritage Club invited all Caddo, Bossier, Shreveport, and Troop G law enforcement officers to an Italian dinner after presenting the St. Michael medals to them. The medals were first blessed by Monsignor Earl Provenza, who prays for all officers on and off duty. Johnnie Estess, Sons of Italy Heritage Club president says, "This is something that they can keep in their cars, they can keep in their pockets, and just know that somebody's looking over them. We just wanted to do something for them to show them how much they're appreciated."
