It was truly a night of stars -- of the scholarly, philanthropic and celebrity type -- with the Sons of Italy Lodge 2738 rolling out the red carpet. Saturday, inside a glitzy and full-to-capacity Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center ballroom, the lodge hosted for the 18th time its Scholarship and Citizen of the Year Gala.

With "hooray for Hollywood" as the evening's appropriate theme, and Al Spinuzzi and Gino Carleo serving as the tuxedoed emcees, the gala's centerpiece was the presentation of a $750 scholarship and $200 gift bag to 18 Pueblo students of Italian heritage.
