The Los Angeles Dodgers announced this week that they have signed 16-year-old Italian outfielder Federico Giordani. He is from Anzio and playing for Nettuno. Italian senior national team head coach Marco Mazzieri and Bob Engle were the scouts to convince the Dodgers to sign him.
He is expected to start his professional career in the spring of 2015. He is the second Italian to sign with the Dodgers this year after Federico Celli. Alex Liddi, the first player developed in Italy to reach Major League Baseball, is currently also playing in the iconic organization.
