What's up with WTI: Editorial # 165

Dear friends, summer has exploded here in Italy and the heat is really exceptional. But We the Italians doesn't stop: we never stop, you know that.

A few days ago I had the pleasure of attending here in Rome the preview screening of the documentary "New York Solo Andata" by my friend and partner Davide Ippolito. It is an honor for me to be part of the documentary, which tells very well a small part of Italy in New York: you can check the trailer here. To the friends of We the Italians who are in New York: see you on September 12 at the Institute of Italian Culture in Manhattan, where I will attend the first screening of the documentary in America. With Davide we are working on some very interesting projects: our collaboration born with the Italian American Reputation Lab will bear many interesting fruits.

Another opportunity to represent and tell the story of the Italian American community had been given to me at the Centro Studi Americani, also here in Rome, when I spoke at the award ceremony for the young people of the Lazio Region who participated in the educational project "Alla Scoperta dell’America." We the Italians has involved the Conference of Presidents of the Major Italian American Organizations in the project, and thanks to the generosity of its members and President Basil Russo, young Italian Americans and Italians have been meeting online. When there is a project about America here in Italy We the Italians is always interested in including stories and people from the Italian American community.

We have published the booklet of the 2023 Gala of We the Italians, held last June: you can read the institutional letters of greeting starting with the one from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the biographies of the awardees and our sponsors, whom we thank. The success was huge, despite the rain that did not help: we are already working how to improve again for the 2024 Gala.

Last but not least, we welcome on We the Italians a new Ambassador, my friend Roberto Giua, who will represent us in Kentucky. Roberto was born in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. He has worked for large Italian companies in the telecommunications and defense sectors. Active in the Rotary Club in both Italy and California since his relocation, he has authored more than 25 international publications and volumes on topics in business organization, countering human trafficking and mental health prevention. He has recently moved to Kentucky.

Once again let me remind you that the new yearbook of We the Italians is available, with the 23 interviews (in Italian and English) published during 2022. You can find a preview and buy a copy here. Also, please use our virtual store to buy gifts and gadgets, where you can find more than 20 products in different colors: t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, onesies, mugs, notebooks, pillows, totes, tapestries, pins, laptop and smartphone cases, magnets, stickers, masks. It’s all for now. Please stay safe and take care, and enjoy our magazine and our contents on our website. The future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades. A big Italian hug from Rome!
