Mario's restaurant will officially open Tuesday night at its newest location on Irondequoit Bay in Penfield at the site of the old Bazil's restaurant. A temporary sign with its new branding as Mario's Homemade Pasta Kitchen now hangs over the old Bazil's sign. In addition, there's Mario's Ice Cream on the Bay on the side of the restaurant at 1384 Empire Blvd., where patrons may stop in for cool treats and relax on its new patio. The Daniele family that owns Mario's also owns Southpoint Marina at the site.
Keeping up with food trends, Mario's focus is on a new pasta concept, featuring fresh egg and semolina homemade pasta, ravioli, and gnocchi made daily. In a statement, patriarch Mario Daniele described the concept as “a fresh, homemade pasta kitchen themed restaurant born from my roots of growing up eating in my mother’s kitchen in Castelnuovo, Italy.”
