Abruzzo’s economy is powered by industries which run from major companies to small family-owned trades and vocations. Agriculture is a major part of the region with production of high-quality wines, olive oil, and various fruits and vegetables.
More than a half-million metric tons of grapes are produced in the region, not just for eating but also for the production of wines. Abruzzo is famous for its red wine Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, but its white wines, such as the award-winning Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, known for its crisp acidity and light body, are also highly coveted.
