An innovative biotechnology platform capable of keeping full-thickness human skin alive outside the body for approximately 4 weeks is opening new possibilities for healthcare research – and an Italian scientist is among the researchers behind the project.
Sabrina Zuccaro is one of the 15 authors of the scientific study describing Yuna, a platform developed by U.S. biotechnology company Outer Biosciences to maintain living human skin ex vivo far longer than conventional laboratory systems. Her presence adds an Italian contribution to a multidisciplinary effort combining biotechnology, medicine, artificial intelligence and data science.
