Italian gas turbine manufacturer Ansaldo Energia is making its return to the U.S. power generation market after more than 30 years away. The company signed a contract to supply eight AE64.3A gas turbines and associated generators for Pacifico Energy’s data center project in Texas. The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, Ansaldo said in a release.
Rapid growth in artificial intelligence and data center development is driving sharply higher electricity demand, increasing interest in gas-fired generation that can be deployed to serve large, power-intensive loads. The AE64.3A is the smallest F-class gas turbine in Ansaldo Energia’s portfolio and is designed for 60-Hz applications through a gearbox-based configuration and generator package. More than 70 AE64.3A units are installed worldwide.
