The Italian American community of Brooklyn is preparing to come together for an evening of solidarity and civic engagement. On Friday, May 1, 2026 at 7:30 PM, the historic Dyker Beach Golf Course will host “May the Light Be with You,” a charity event organized by Italian-American entrepreneur Luca Pautasso, Partner at New York Life – Manhattan General Office, U.S. Army veteran, and longtime resident of Bay Ridge.
The initiative aims to support Little Golden Light, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children battling pediatric cancer and their families. This year’s primary fundraising goal is the purchase of a dedicated van, which will allow young patients and their families to be transported safely and free of charge to hospitals, medical offices, and treatment centers across the New York area.
For many families facing the long journey of pediatric cancer treatment, the emotional, physical, and financial burdens are overwhelming. Ensuring reliable and free transportation to medical facilities can represent meaningful support and significant relief during an extremely delicate time.
The choice of location is not accidental. Dyker Beach Golf Course is one of the most iconic venues in the area and sits at the heart of a community that includes Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, and Bensonhurst, neighborhoods that have historically been home to some of the largest Italian and Italian-American communities in Brooklyn.
“Bay Ridge has been my home for many years, and this community has given me so much,” said Luca Pautasso. “With this event, we want to bring together people, families, and local businesses around a cause that affects all of us: supporting children and families who are facing one of most difficult challenges in their life.”
The evening will bring together community members, local entrepreneurs, organizations, and supporters from across Brooklyn and the greater New York metropolitan area, with the goal of turning solidarity into concrete help.
