Italy has rapidly expanded its weight in Europe’s space sector, driven by a surge in public investment and a broad industrial ecosystem that covers nearly every part of the value chain. Over the past decade, the country has committed billions to European and national programs, pushing its total allocation for space initiatives above €7 billion.
These resources support everything from advanced satellite manufacturing to launch systems, Earth-observation services and high-tech research centers. The goal has been clear: strengthen industrial capabilities, secure technological know-how and reduce dependence on non-European suppliers.
