Today, US Representative Rosa DeLauro, Representative Michael Rulli, the bipartisan co-chairs of the Italian American Congressional Delegation (IACD), along with Representative Panetta, Co-Vice Chair of the IACD, released a letter requesting that the Commerce Department pause implementation of proposed tariffs on pasta products imported from Italy. The new duties could raise total tariffs to more than 100% on certain Italian pasta imports.
“While we fully support efforts to ensure a level playing field for American industries, we are concerned that these duties may cause more harm than good for Americans and America’s interests,” wrote the delegation.
