Chartered in 1966, the American Italian Club-Spokane is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Operating under the umbrella of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, the nonprofit’s mission to share Italian heritage, culture and traditions remains unchanged.
Contributions from Italian immigrants to our city include restaurants, churches, businesses, Gonzaga University and civic leaders like Joe Albi. Jeannine Fruci’s father-in-law, Roger Fruci Sr., helped found the club. “Roger often spoke of the discrimination Italians faced in Spokane,” she said.
