After being on hold since 2004, a longtime Follansbee celebration is returning with a weekend of food, games and community events. The Garibaldi Lodge, described as a home away from home for many Italian-American families in the Ohio Valley, will host the Garibaldi Celebration July 31 through Aug. 1. Events will take place along Broad Street and Main Street and will feature local food, games, nonprofits and community organizations.
Organizers said local participation will include groups such as the American Legion and volunteer firefighters, along with area businesses.“We’re gonna have other nonprofits out there," the lodge's Michael Casini said. "We’re going to have the Post 45 American Legion with the booth. We’re go have the volunteer firemen are gonna be doing some of the games and things and we’re going have local businessmen, like Bill Segrist, he’s a long time member.
