Gravitational waves and lunar rovers: Italian research breaks new ground

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Italian research is moving forward on several fronts, from understanding the universe and strengthening industrial resilience to developing technologies for future lunar exploration. New funding at the Gran Sasso Science Institute in L’Aquila and a milestone for the ETNA rover highlight the breadth of expertise connecting universities, research centers, and industry.

At GSSI, 3 women scientists are coordinating projects awarded more than €3.4 million combined through the Ministry of University and Research’s PRIN 2026 program. The funding supports partnerships across Italian institutions, bringing together specialists in physics, social sciences, and mathematics.
