History, sea, and Shelley: discovering Lerici

Lerici is a small coastal town in the province of La Spezia, in the eastern part of Liguria. Known as one of the jewels of the so-called Gulf of Poets, it has attracted writers, artists, and travelers for centuries, all drawn to the beauty of its cliffs, its calm waters, and its particular blend of Ligurian and Tuscan influence.

Its historical significance, natural beauty, and literary associations make it a unique destination on the Italian Riviera. Lerici’s origins go back to Etruscan and Roman times, but it grew in importance during the Middle Ages as a maritime and commercial center contested by powerful regional forces, including Pisa and Genoa.
