A tiny Italian village with only around a dozen permanent residents has caught the attention of international buyers––including, reportedly, one of the world’s biggest pop stars. Perched on a volcanic plateau and accessible only by a footbridge, Civita di Bagnoregio is known as la città che muore—or “the dying city”—because erosion is gradually wearing away the land beneath it.
But that fragility only seems to have increased its appeal. So too have reports in various Italian media that singer Harry Styles owns a vacation home on a 300-by-500-foot outcrop. The settlement in the Lazio region dates back more than 2,500 years to the Estrucan period, but most of the buildings are medieval.
