Italian American Club youth camp highlights heritage ties ahead of America 250

As the nation approaches America 250, students in the Ohio Valley spent the week exploring how Italian heritage connects to American history through a youth camp hosted by the Italian American Club. The club’s Campo Italiano focused this year on Italian heritage and its ties to American heritage, highlighting contributions ranging from entrepreneurship and innovation to medicine.

Frankie DiCarlantonio, club president, said the camp aimed to look beyond traditions like food, history, culture and language to emphasize what Italian Americans have contributed to the United States. “Through medical, and so many different things that Italians have done to really advance America," he said.
