The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago will officially inaugurate its new headquarters on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with a public Open House celebrating Italian music, contemporary art, language and culture in the heart of the city.
The event will take place at the Institute’s new location at 150 N Michigan Avenue, Suite 1580, Chicago, IL 60601. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., while the official program begins at 6:00 p.m. and continues through approximately 8:30 p.m. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
One of the evening’s highlights will be a special live appearance by Colapesce Dimartino, the acclaimed Italian singer-songwriter duo formed by Lorenzo Urciullo, known as Colapesce, and Antonio Di Martino. The performance represents a rare reunion for the artists and their first live appearance in the United States as a duo. Their set will include some of their best-known songs, including music associated with their appearances at the Sanremo Music Festival.
The opening will also introduce “A Palm of Victory,” the first Chicago exhibition devoted to Italian artist Emilia Faro. Curated by Maria Chiara Di Trapani, the exhibition uses watercolor, sculpture and video to create an imaginative landscape inspired by palm trees and their symbolism.
Guests will also be able to discover ItalCultura’s programs, including Italian language courses, the Italian Book Club and Film Club.
The Open House marks a new chapter for one of Italy’s principal cultural institutions in the Midwest, creating a renewed Chicago home for promoting Italian language, creativity and contemporary culture.
