Italian industrial expertise is finding new opportunities in the United States as Angelini Technologies expands its investments in robotics, artificial intelligence, and logistics automation, strengthening technological cooperation between the two countries.
In an interview conducted by Rudy Gatta with Luigi De Vito, CEO of Angelini Technologies, published in the Italian newspaper La Stampa on October 8, 2026, the executive outlined the company's ambitious American growth strategy.
Founded in Abruzzo in 1975, Fameccanica, the industrial technology company controlled by Angelini Technologies, has installed more than 1,300 production lines across 72 countries. Its machinery manufactured approximately 25% of the diapers sold worldwide in 2025.
Today, that engineering expertise is opening new markets. In April 2026, Angelini Technologies inaugurated a research and development center in Boston, while doubling the size of its manufacturing facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the company has operated since 2009.
The expansion includes an investment in Lab0, an American robotics startup with a research center in Genoa, Italy. Its technology combines artificial intelligence, computer vision, and mobile robots equipped with two arms to automate the loading and unloading of trucks and shipping containers.
This emerging logistics segment could reach $8 billion by 2030, offering significant opportunities for Italian-American technological collaboration.
Angelini Technologies recorded approximately €390 million in revenue in 2025, an increase of nearly 60%, with exports accounting for 93% of its business.
De Vito emphasized the importance of Boston's innovation ecosystem, where universities, startups, industrial partners, and customers collaborate to transform research into commercially viable technologies.
The company expects to add approximately 100 employees across its American operations during 2026 and 2027.
For Angelini Technologies, the United States represents more than an export destination. It is becoming a strategic center for innovation, manufacturing, and future growth – demonstrating how Italian engineering excellence and American entrepreneurship can build the next generation of industrial robotics.
