Italy’s export economy strengthened significantly during the first half of 2026, with international sales rising 4.5% compared with the same period in 2025. The latest regional data show that growth was spread across much of the country, although several regions and industries delivered particularly strong performances.
The momentum continued during the second quarter. Compared with the previous three months, exports increased 6.5% in Southern Italy and the islands, 3.1% in the Northeast and 2.9% in the Northwest. Central Italy was the only major geographic area to record a quarterly decline, falling 1.6%.
