Homes in Italy are showing a remarkable leap in energy efficiency – a clear sign that the residential sector is embracing the country’s green transition. Recent data reveal that 99.4% of families now live in dwellings equipped with heating systems, up from 98.6% in 2021 – the near-universality of heating has become a reality.
In southern regions the gap remains small but visible – about 1.7% of households still lack heating, a marked improvement compared with earlier years. What stands out most is the rapid growth of autonomous heating systems – those managed at the household level rather than by centralized building systems.
