Italian medical centers are standing tall on the world stage – eight hospitals from Italy place among the top 20 globally in their respective specialties. The annual ranking covers 12 medical fields – everything from cardiology and oncology to neurosurgery and obstetrics – and assesses the performance of hundreds of hospitals across dozens of countries.
Among the standout achievements: the Gemelli hospital in Rome lands 3rd worldwide in obstetrics and gynecology; Bambino Gesù in Rome is ranked 6th for pediatrics; Gemelli again shows up at 10th in gastroenterology; IEO in Milan claims 11th in cancer care; Rizzoli in Bologna places 11th for orthopedics; Monzino in Milan is 14th in cardiology; Besta in Milan is 14th in neurology; and Besta is also 17th in neurosurgery.
