Italy’s quality-certified food and wine sector continues its upward trajectory – the latest figures show the Dop economy reaching 20.7 billion € in production value in 2024, a 3.5% rise from the previous year and a 25% jump compared to 2020. This segment now represents 19% of the entire national agri-food economy.
For the fourth year in a row, the food category posted gains, climbing 7.7% and passing 9.6 billion €, while bottled wine held steady at roughly 11 billion €. Exports also performed exceptionally well: certified Dop and Igp products reached 12.3 billion € in foreign sales, up 8.2%, driven by record highs in both food exports, topping 5 billion € for the first time, and wine, passing the 7-billion threshold.
