Italy’s sports sector is moving decisively toward greener practices through a new agreement between the Italian National Olympic Committee and the National Packaging Consortium. Signed in 2026, the partnership sets out a coordinated strategy to improve the environmental impact of sporting events across the country, with implementation planned through 2028. The initiative introduces shared standards that organizers at every level will be encouraged to adopt.
The program is designed to integrate circular economy principles throughout the sports ecosystem – from amateur competitions to large international events. Federations, clubs, and event planners will follow unified guidelines aimed at reducing waste and increasing recycling efficiency.
