Italy’s universities are preparing one of their largest expansions in recent years, with 158 new degree programs proposed for the 2026–2027 academic year. The new offerings reflect a rapidly changing labor market and place particular emphasis on health care, digital technologies, artificial intelligence and environmental sustainability.
The programs have received preliminary approval from the National University Council, known as CUN. Final authorization from Italy’s National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes and the Ministry of Universities and Research is still required.
