Italy has reason to celebrate after the 2026 New York City Marathon. Yeman Crippa finished second in the men’s elite race on Sunday, delivering an important result for Italian distance running and coming within 13 seconds of victory.
Crippa, 29, crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 14 seconds, behind Sweden’s Andreas Almgren, who won in 2:06:01. The Italian stayed with the leading group deep into the race, but Almgren pulled away in the final mile to claim victory in his marathon debut.
