Despite historical challenges linked to waste disposal in certain areas, recent data outlines a radical transformation. Today, the national industrial system vastly exceeds the rigorous environmental standards established by the European Union.
The profound change is immediately evident starting from the municipal waste sorting numbers. In 2023, the national share of differentiated collection reached 66.6% of the total municipal waste generated by citizens, successfully surpassing the 65% objective originally set for the previous decade.
