Italy opens its vineyards for harvest season as wine tourism enters its most authentic months

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Italy’s vineyards are opening their doors during one of the most fascinating moments of the agricultural year, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the grape harvest not simply as spectators, but as participants in the traditions behind Italian wine.

Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia 2026, organized by Movimento Turismo del Vino, runs from August 24 through October 25 across participating vineyards and wineries throughout Italy. The event stretches over roughly 2 months, following the different rhythms of harvest from the earliest grapes used for white wines and sparkling wines to varieties that mature later in the fall.
