My role as the Ambassador for “We the Italians” in the Capital City of Ohio (Columbus) allows me to meet many fellow local Italian Americans (IAs) across the central Ohio community.
From time to time, you can find me highlighting local Italian American (IA) cultural events, presenting IA genealogy topics, and covering anything related to the rich local history of Italians, IAs presence in Columbus. Overall, a rewarding experience for me to be a part of the “We the Italians” team.
On a recent visit to my hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I had the unique privilege and honor to meet with the Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia, Nico Frandi. Consul General Frandi is a career diplomat with over 25-years of professional experience. Visiting with Consul General Frandi made for a truly memorable experience and I appreciated his time talking with me. Our conversation centered around the long established and rich history of Italy and its cultural impact in Philadelphia which includes my Italian immigrant grandparents experience in Philadelphia. Historically and today, the presence of the Italian Consulate is truly a bridge between two cultures situated in the City of Philadelphia.
The Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia provides its services to residents of seven (7) states; Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland (except the Counties of Prince George and Montgomery), Virginia (except the Counties of Fairfax and Arlington), and New Jersey (only Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem Counties).
