Italy’s cultural sector continues to show strong vitality, supported by an extensive network of museums, monuments, and archaeological sites that attract tens of millions of visitors each year. Across the country, there are 4,416 permanent cultural sites open to the public, including museums, archaeological areas, and historical monuments, both publicly and privately owned.
Even during the years affected by pandemic restrictions, these sites demonstrated resilience, drawing nearly 108 million visits in 2022, close to the roughly 130 million recorded in 2019.
