Italy’s innovative-startup ecosystem has become a significant force for job creation and economic growth. By 2024, startups and former startups active in the country were responsible for about 68,500 jobs, up from roughly 65,900 the previous year.
Although this marks an increase of only about 4 %, it reflects a sector that continues to expand even as overall growth has slowed from the double-digit rates seen in earlier years. Since 2012, Italy’s broader innovation chain – which includes startups, innovative SMEs, incubators, accelerators and technology hubs – has generated close to 244,000 jobs.
