Italy’s network of startup incubators and accelerators is entering a new phase marked by consolidation, stronger specialization, and measurable economic impact. After years of rapid expansion, the ecosystem is now shifting toward maturity, with fewer but more structured players and deeper connections to industry.
The latest data shows there are 203 incubators and accelerators operating nationwide, down about 15% from 239 the previous year. Rather than signaling a slowdown, this contraction reflects a process of consolidation aimed at building more efficient and competitive organizations.
