A recent ranking analyzing sunshine levels across Italy highlights the cities that enjoy the greatest number of sunny hours throughout the year. The study examined 50 Italian cities and compared their average monthly sunshine totals, revealing a clear geographic pattern: the south and the islands dominate the list, while northern cities generally receive fewer hours of sunlight.
At the top of the ranking is Syracuse, in Sicily, with an average of 272.61 hours of sunshine per month. The margin separating it from second place is extremely small. Catania, also in Sicily, follows closely with 272.39 hours, just 0.22 hours – roughly 13 minutes – less sunshine each month.
