“Blue Lou” Marini came prepared, knowing Pope Leo XIV’s affection for “The Blues Brothers,” so much so that as a young seminarian in Chicago, Robert F. Prevost had impersonated one of the famous “Blues Brothers” — like him, on a mission from God, of course.
So when Marini, the lifelong Catholic and former “Blues Brothers” band member, arrived in Rimini, Italy, for an interview with Vatican Radio, he had in his pocket two pairs of vintage “Blues Brothers”-style Ray-Bann glasses, just like the ones Leo donned all those years ago.
