The funeral of Italian-American telecommunications magnate Rocco Commisso was held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue Wednesday morning.
The Calabrian-born Commisso, who immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve, left an indelible mark on the American business landscape with Mediacom, a cable TV and internet company he founded in 1995 that successfully brought service to smaller cities and towns shunned by well-established competitors, becoming the country’s fifth-largest cable television provider by subscriber count.
