The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump: «This year, the 4th of July takes on a special meaning for the United States of America, as it marks the 250th anniversary of their independence.
I would therefore like to extend our warmest wishes – mine personal and on behalf of the Republic of Italy – to our friends the American people. Today’s celebration belongs to the history of the United States but, over time, it has become common heritage for all of those who identify with the principles of liberty, democratic representation and the protection of universal human rights, as well as the pursuit of a decent and happy life.
