Julianna Forlano, an Italian-American Herald contributor and a board member of the Italian American Writers Association of Philadelphia, was a recent guest of the Italian American Podcast, recording an episode on the Italian-American identity, ancestry and healing.
“My writing asks what happens when we recover the stories of our families and communities,” she said. “What I’m most interested in discussing is the importance of telling our stories – not just preserving names, dates, and family trees, but understanding the emotional truths, cultural memory, strengths, struggles, and survival strategies that have been passed down through experiences of previous generations of Italian Americans continue.’’
