New export funding strengthens Italian businesses in the American market

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Italy is accelerating its international trade strategy, with the United States remaining a priority destination for Italian businesses seeking to expand their global presence.

On October 29, 2026, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a record 708 subsidized financing operations worth more than €414 million, approved through the country's Export Plan. The latest commitments bring total financing approved for internationalizing Italian companies to over €1.8 billion.

The American market stands out among the beneficiaries. Through the dedicated USA Measure, managed by SIMEST, Italy approved 36 new financing operations totaling €16.5 million, helping Italian companies establish, expand, and strengthen their activities in the United States.

This follows another €34.8 million approved for 65 American-market initiatives in September, demonstrating sustained institutional investment in transatlantic commerce.

The financing supports participation in international trade fairs, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, e-commerce development, market entry strategies, and temporary export managers.

Additional equity investments totaling €12.9 million will support the international expansion of three Italian companies in Germany and the United States.

The initiative is particularly significant as Italian exporters navigate changing international trade conditions and American tariff policies.

Despite these challenges, Italian exports to the United States increased by 2% during the first half of 2026, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The broader program also approved 19 supplier-credit operations supporting Italian export contracts worth more than €31.7 million.

These investments demonstrate Italy's determination to reinforce its commercial relationship with the United States, helping Italian businesses compete internationally while promoting innovation, industrial excellence, and Made in Italy products.
