A new digital platform is bringing ancient Rome to a global audience, offering immersive content in English designed to make Italy’s historical heritage more accessible to international visitors. The project, titled “Italy as the Romans did,” focuses on combining technology, storytelling, and tourism to highlight the legacy of Roman civilization, which shaped Europe for over 1,000 years – from 753 BC to the fall of the Western Empire in 476 AD.
The website presents curated itineraries across Italy, enriched with 3D reconstructions, interactive maps, and visual materials that allow users to explore archaeological sites in a dynamic way. These digital tools aim to recreate the original appearance of monuments such as forums, temples, and amphitheaters, offering a more engaging experience compared to traditional travel guides.
