Nestled Campania region of southern Italy, Paestum is a treasure trove of ancient history. Visitors are stunned to witness the ancient city’s architecture and serene landscapes. This once-thriving Greek city, founded in the 6th century BC, before the Roman Republic, offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past with its well-preserved temples, rich archaeological museum, and beautiful surroundings.
Our journey to Paestum began with a scenic drive from Mugnano del Cardinale, a quaint town in the province of Avellino. The town was where my father was born and raised: we passed through the picturesque countryside dotted with olive groves and vineyards, a true embodiment of the country’s Magna Graecia culture.
