While human siblings may not always get along, Rockford and Ferentino, Italy, have shared a sister-city relationship filled with a love of culture, learning and a true sense of family. Since the Rockford Italian Sister Cities Alliance was established in 2006, the two towns have shared many cultural and religious exchanges.
But the history between Rockford and Ferentino actually stretches back more than a century, revealing deep and interesting connections. During that time, two waves of immigration established a strong Italian presence in Rockford.
