Shutdown also hits US bases in Italy: grounded flights and salaries at risk for 4,000 workers

There are more than 4,000 Italian workers employed on American military bases in Italy who risk not seeing their salaries until the stalemate caused by the shutdown in the US, i.e. the blockage of the US federal budget, is broken.

Launching the alarm in these hours are the Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs trade unions, which on Friday, 7 November declared a state of agitation, once again calling for an intervention by the Italian government in the wake of those already put down by other European countries in the same situation. The demand is to protect the rights of Italian employees and guarantee the payment of salaries.
