Launched in 2025, the Sistema Cultura Sicilia project is a wide-ranging plan to map, measure and enhance the island’s immense cultural wealth. The program views culture not as a static legacy but as a dynamic force for development. It encompasses every dimension of heritage – tangible, intangible and environmental – and seeks to identify both the strengths and weaknesses that shape Sicily’s cultural landscape.
The project’s first goal is to produce an updated picture of Sicily’s extended heritage network, quantifying its value and revealing the areas with untapped potential. This data-driven approach will help define a roadmap for improving the island’s cultural competitiveness and international visibility.
