Southern Italy’s small and medium-sized businesses are showing encouraging signs of expansion, with a majority reporting higher revenues and more than half expecting to increase both production and employment. A new survey offers a detailed picture of a business community that is becoming more ambitious, innovative and internationally oriented.
The first Observatory on Southern Italian SMEs, promoted by UniCredit in collaboration with SVIMEZ and Confindustria Campania, surveyed 707 companies across 11 major industries between June and July 2026. The sectors range from construction, agribusiness and automotive to fashion, tourism, pharmaceuticals, information technology, the maritime economy and aerospace.
